Thank you for your thoughtful questions of a great thinker
I used professor Hage's "Fantasies of White Supremacy in a Multicultural Society" in my senior thesis on Immigration and Entitativity.
This short discussion brought out so many interesting perspectives and ideas in an engaging way. Thanks for the continuity and the great questions. Dr. Hage's perceptions are fuel for thought, and I will be reading more.
I especially agree with the concept of negotiation between equals, as it presumes no modernist hierarchy of subgroups in a multicultural society. We in the U.S. have a long way to go with our political discourse on our Mexican-American compatriots. Yet at the same time, the idea of shared responsibility for outcomes may provide a politically viable alternative to the various forms of assimilation.
Thank you.
Bravo professor...
Your down-to-the-earth approach and simplicity and elegance of your reasoning left me speechless.
